Protect me Father; cover me with Your favor, Amen.

Psalm 17:8 says: “Keep me as the apple of your eye; hide me in the shadow of your wings.”

Meaning of Psalm 17:8

  • Apple of the eye: Refers to the pupil (the center of the eye), which is the most sensitive and closely guarded part of the human body. Asking to be kept this way means asking for tender, constant, and watchful care.
  • Shadow of your wings: A comforting image of a mother bird shielding her chicks from danger.

A Prayer for Guidance and Direction

“Heavenly Father, thank You for loving me and calling me Your own. Today, I ask that You keep me as the apple of Your eye and hide me under the shadow of Your wings. When the path ahead feels uncertain or difficult, please grant me clear guidance and steady direction. Order my steps, calm my fears, and let me rest safely in Your wisdom and strength. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.” [1, 2]
