And we walk with Jesus, EVERYWHERE we go!

I actually found that using the bathroom is ‘private-time’! If you’ve ever walked a dog – you are there at that moment! Yet, at your moment you are all alone (or are you really?)

The Bible repeatedly promises that believers are never truly alone, emphasizing God’s constant presence, guidance, and companionship through every circumstance.

Key Bible Verses on God’s Presence

  • Matthew 28:20: “And behold, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” — Jesus reassures His followers of His unbroken, eternal presence.
  • Deuteronomy 31:6: “Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.” — A foundational Old Testament promise of divine loyalty.
  • Hebrews 13:5: “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.” — Reaffirmed in the New Testament to counter fear and isolation.
  • Isaiah 41:10: “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” — God offers active strength and support during trials.
  • John 14:18: “I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you.” — Jesus promises the comfort of His Spirit so we are not left defenseless or alone.
  • Psalm 23:4: “Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.” — God acts as a close Shepherd in our hardest seasons.

Colossians 1:9–11 is the Apostle Paul’s prayer for believers to be filled with the knowledge of God’s will, to walk in a way that pleases Him, and to be strengthened with His power for endurance.

Teaching Points

  • Spiritual Understanding Comes First (Verse 9): Paul prays that believers are filled with the knowledge of God’s will, accompanied by all spiritual wisdom and understanding. True Christian action starts with knowing God’s truth from His Word, not just relying on feelings or cultural trends.
  • A Worthy Walk Produces Fruit (Verse 10): Knowing God’s will leads directly to a practical lifestyle that “walks worthy of the Lord”. This means pleasing Him in every area and bearing fruit through good works and a deeper relationship with Him.
  • Endurance Requires Divine Power (Verse 11): Spiritual strength does not come from human willpower. Believers are strengthened with God’s “glorious might” so they can endure trials, wait patiently, and remain joyful even in hard times.

Memory Verses

Colossians 1:9–10 (NIV):
“For this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you. We continually ask God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all the wisdom and understanding that the Spirit gives, so that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God…”

Colossians 1:11 (NIV):
“…being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience, giving joyful thanks to the Father.”

Take-Home Message

Real spiritual growth isn’t about trying harder in your own strength; it is about letting God’s Word fill your mind, letting His character shape your daily choices, and relying on His power to carry you through every season.

How to Apply This to Your Life

  • Seek God’s Will Through Scripture Daily: Before making decisions, anchor yourself in the Bible. Ask yourself: What does God’s Word say about how I should handle this situation or treat this person?
  • Examine Your Daily “Walk”: Look at your daily habits, speech, work, and relationships. Ask: Does my lifestyle reflect someone who belongs to Jesus, or am I blending in with the world? [1, 2]
  • Shift from Frustration to Fruitfulness: Identify where you are stuck in a good task or a difficult relationship. Instead of grumbling or trying to force a fix on your own, pray for God’s endurance, patience, and joyful attitude. [1, 2, 3]
  • Swap Self-Reliance for God’s Power: When facing exhaustion or stress, stop and acknowledge that your own strength is limited. Consciously ask God to supply His “glorious might” for the specific trial or task in front of you.
