Introduction
Welcome, my dear brothers and sisters, to this blessed Saturday morning. Today is a very special day. It is Day 3, the final day of our three days of fasting and prayer. For the last two days, you have denied your body food, you have pushed away distractions, and you have sought the face of Almighty God. Look at the journey we have taken together during this Month of God’s Open Heaven. On Day 1, we learned about Faith That Grows Under Pressure. We saw how our troubles do not break us, but instead push our roots deeper into God. Yesterday, on Day 2, we learned to Stand Firm and Do Not Be Shaken, holding onto God’s promises even when the storms of life blow hard against our homes and families. Today, on this third day, we reach the climax of our fast. When you grow in faith under pressure, and when you stand firm without shaking, what happens next? The sky opens over your head!
Today, we are exploring Genesis 28:12–16 with the topic: Jacob’s Ladder: Connecting Earth to Heaven’s Throne. Many of you walked into this sanctuary today feeling tired in your body from fasting, and maybe even more tired in your heart from the heavy burdens you carry. You might feel like you are all alone in a dry, empty desert. That is exactly how Jacob felt in our Bible story today. He was running for his life, he had no money, no family beside him, and no soft bed to sleep on. He only had a cold, hard stone for a pillow. Yet, right in that lonely place, God opened the heavens. A stairway came down from God’s throne right to the dirt where Jacob was sleeping. My friend, I am here to tell you today that your fasting is not in vain. Your tears are not forgotten. Today, on this third day of prayer, the God of Jacob is connecting your earthly struggle right to His heavenly throne. Get your heart ready, because heaven is touching your life right now.
Part 1: An Open Heaven in Your Darkest Night
Let us look closely at where Jacob was when he saw this wonderful vision of an open heaven. Sometimes we think that God only opens heaven when we are sitting in a beautiful church building, wearing our best clothes, and feeling happy when everything in life is going right. But look at Jacob in Genesis chapter 28. Jacob had made big mistakes in his life. He had lied to his father and cheated his brother Esau. Now, Esau wanted to kill him, so Jacob had to run away from home. The sun went down while he was in the middle of nowhere. It was dark, cold, and dangerous. There was no house, no hotel, and no friend to give him a warm meal. The Bible says he picked up a stone from the ground, put it under his head as a pillow, and lay down on the dirt to sleep.
Have you ever been in a place like that in your life? Maybe not on physical dirt, but in your heart, the sun has gone down. Maybe you are going through a very dark night right now. Your bank account is empty, the doctor gave you a scary report, your marriage feels cold like a stone, or your children are walking away from God. Perhaps, like Jacob, you know you have made mistakes in the past, and you feel guilty and ashamed. You feel like you are sleeping on a hard rock of pain and regret. Listen to this good news: the dark night did not stop God from coming down. The hard stone did not block the glory of heaven. In fact, it was when Jacob lost everything on earth that he finally saw everything in heaven. Right there in the dirt, he dreamed, and he saw a stairway set on the earth, with its top reaching all the way to heaven.
This tells us something that should touch every broken heart in this room today. You are never too far gone for God’s grace. Your situation is never too dark for God’s light. When human doors close in your face, God opens a door in the sky. In this Month of God’s Open Heaven, God is not looking for perfect people who have no problems. He is looking for tired, hungry, desperate people who have been fasting and crying out to Him from the hard places of life. Your stone pillow of pain is about to become the very place where you see the glory of the Lord. Do not cry over the darkness around you anymore. Look up! Because you have humbled yourself in fasting these three days, the darkness is breaking, and the light of God’s throne is shining directly down onto the exact spot where you are hurting today.
Part 2: The Stairway That Connects Your Need to God’s Supply
In Genesis 28:12, the says that Jacob saw a stairway set on the earth, and its top reached to heaven, and the angels of God were ascending and descending on it. Notice those words very carefully. The stairway was not floating in the clouds where Jacob could not reach it. It was set on the earth—right next to Jacob—and its top reached all the way to heaven’s throne. For many people, God feels very far away. When you pray, it sometimes feels like your voice hits the ceiling and falls back down. You look at your big bills, your sickness, or your family problems on earth, and heaven seems a million miles away. How can a poor, weak person on earth ever reach a holy, almighty God in heaven? You cannot build a ladder tall enough on your own. Good works cannot reach heaven. Money cannot buy a ticket to God’s throne.
So what did God do? Because we could not climb up to Him, He dropped a stairway down to us! And in the New Testament, in the book of John chapter 1, verse 51, Jesus tells us a wonderful secret. Jesus says that He Himself is that stairway! When Jesus Christ came down from heaven to earth and died on the cross for our sins, He became the living bridge between dirty earth and holy heaven. Because of Jesus, there is no longer a wall between you and God. And look at what was happening on that stairway in Jacob’s dream: the angels of God were going up and coming down. Notice the order! They did not come down first; they were ascending (going up) first, and then descending (coming down). Why were they going up first? Because angels are right here on earth watching over God’s children!
For the past three days of this fasting prayer, every time you whispered a prayer, every time a tear rolled down your cheek, God’s messengers were carrying your prayers up that stairway straight to the Father’s throne. And now, on Day 3, they are descending—they are coming back down the stairway carrying your answers, your healing, your peace, and your breakthrough! Heaven is not a closed bank; it is an open storehouse. Whatever you lack on earth, heaven has plenty of it. If you lack peace on earth, there is an ocean of peace at the throne. If you lack strength in your body, there is resurrection power at the throne. The stairway is standing right in this church today. Your fasting has tuned your spiritual eyes to see that you are connected to the richest, most powerful throne in the universe. Every prayer you have prayed during these three days has reached the top of the stairway, and heaven’s supply is coming down into your hands right now.
Part 3: Hearing the Voice of the Covenant God Above the Ladder
The vision gets even better as we read Genesis 28, verses 13 to 15. Seeing a stairway and angels is wonderful, but if that was all Jacob saw, he might still be afraid. What really changed Jacob’s life was who stood at the top of the stairway. Verse 13 says, “Behold, Yahweh stood above it.” God Himself came to the edge of heaven and spoke directly to Jacob. And what did God say? Did God shout at Jacob and say, “Jacob, you liar! You cheated your brother, and you deserve to sleep on that rock”? No! God spoke words of pure love, grace, and promise. God said, “I am the God of Abraham your father, and the God of Isaac. The land where you lie, I will give it to you and your children.” Look at that promise! The very ground where Jacob was lying in fear and poverty, God promised to give him as a possession. That means the very area of your life where you have been suffering the most is the exact area where God is going to give you the biggest testimony!
Then, in verse 15, God gave Jacob a promise that I want every person fasting here today to put deep inside their heart. God told him, “Behold, I am with you, and will keep you wherever you go, and will bring you again into this land; for I will not leave you until I have done that which I have spoken to you.” Oh, let those words sink into your spirit today! Say it to yourself: God will not leave me until He has done what He promised me. On Day 1 of our fast, we prayed for faith that grows under pressure. On Day 2, we prayed to stand firm and not be shaken. How can you stand firm when life is hard? Because the King at the top of the ladder has given you His word!
People may leave you when you have no money. Friends may walk away when you are sick or in trouble. Family members may forget the promises they made to you. But the God of the Open Heaven looks down the stairway into your life today and says, “I am with you. I will protect you wherever you go. And I will never, ever leave you until every single promise I made over your life comes true.” Your story cannot end in defeat because God is not finished working on you yet. You cannot die in the wilderness because God has promised to bring you back with joy. When the voice of the Lord speaks from the top of the ladder, every lie of the devil must bow down. Today, stop listening to the voice of fear and start listening to the voice from the throne.
Part 4: Waking Up to See That God Is in This Place
Now we come to verse 16, and this is the turning point for us on this Saturday morning. After seeing the stairway, the angels, and hearing God’s wonderful promise, verse 16 says that Jacob woke up from his sleep, and he said, “Surely the Lord is in this place, and I didn’t know it!” And in verse 17, he was amazed and said, “This is none other than God’s house, and this is the gate of heaven.” Think about what Jacob said: God was in this place the whole time, and I didn’t even know it. When Jacob went to sleep the night before, he thought he was all alone. He thought God was back at his father Isaac’s tent, far away. He didn’t realize that God was right there in the desert with him.
How many times do we make that same mistake? When we go through hard times, the first thing the enemy whispers in our ear is, “Where is your God now? If God loved you, why did this happen? You are all alone.” And we cry and worry because we think God has left the room. My dear brother, my dear sister, wake up from spiritual sleep today! The biggest miracle of these three days of fasting and prayer is not that we forced God to come from far away—it is that the fast has opened our eyes to see that God is already right here with us! He is in your house. He is in your hospital room. He is in your workplace. He is walking beside you in the fire.
And look at what Jacob did when he woke up. He took that same hard stone that he used as a pillow, he stood it up as a pillar, and he poured oil on top of it to worship God. He turned his hard pillow of pain into an altar of praise! And he changed the name of that lonely place to Bethel, which means “The House of God.” Today, as we finish our three-day fast, God is calling you to wake up with new eyes. Stop calling your life a place of misery and start calling it the Gate of Heaven. Take that hard rock—that problem you have been crying over all week—stand it up before the Lord today, and pour the oil of thanksgiving and worship all over it. When you worship God in the middle of your struggle, your bedroom becomes a sanctuary, your kitchen becomes a prayer room, and your life becomes a permanent open gate where heaven pours blessings onto the earth.
Challenging Session
I want to speak very plainly to your heart right now. It is wonderful to hear about Jacob’s ladder and an open heaven, and it is easy to shout “Amen!” in church. But let me challenge you today: what are you going to do when you leave this church and go home after this three-day fast is over? Look at Jacob. For a long time before this dream, Jacob tried to fix his life by his own clever tricks. He schemed, he lied, and he fought in his own strength, and all it got him was a hard rock in a lonely desert. It was only when Jacob came to the end of himself—when he was helpless—that he saw the open heaven.
Some of you here today have been fasting for three days, yet you are still holding onto secret pride, unforgiveness, or dishonest ways. You want God to open heaven and bless your finances, your family, and your health, while you still live like the old Jacob—fighting people, holding grudges in your heart, or trusting in your own schemes instead of trusting God completely. You cannot walk under an open heaven while holding onto the dirt of sin and bitterness.
And let me challenge your faith too! For two days we talked about growing under pressure and standing firm without shaking. If you leave this prayer meeting today, eat your meal, and immediately go back to complaining, doubting, and speaking negative words over your life, then you are closing the gate that God has opened for you! Are you ready to stop complaining about the hard rock and start pouring the oil of worship on it? Are you ready to forgive the brother or sister who hurt you? Are you ready to trust God’s promise even before you see the money in your hand or the healing in your body? Today, God is challenging you: wake up from your spiritual sleep, let go of your old ways, and live like a child of the Open Heaven!
Altar Call Session
Right now, I want everyone in this place to bow their heads and close their eyes. The Spirit of the Lord is moving gently in this room. Before we pray for miracles and deliverance, look at the stairway again. Remember, Jesus Christ is that stairway between earth and heaven. Maybe you are sitting here today on this Saturday morning, and deep down in your heart, you know you are disconnected from God. Maybe you have been coming to church, or maybe someone invited you to this third day of fasting prayer, yet you know that if you closed your eyes in death today, you are not sure if heaven is open to you.
Or maybe you used to walk closely with God, like Jacob in his father’s house, and then you made mistakes, you fell into sin, and you ran away into a cold, lonely desert. You feel guilty, dirty, and far from grace. Listen to me with tears in my eyes: God did not bring you here today to judge you. He brought you here to love you. Jesus stretched His arms out on the cross and took your punishment so He could become the stairway that brings your soul back to the Father. He is standing at the top of the ladder calling your name right now. He says, “Come home. I will not leave you. I will wash away your past.”
If you are here today and you want to surrender your life to Jesus for the first time, or if you have fallen away and you want to come back home to the Father today—do not be ashamed. Do not look at who is standing next to you. Leave your seat right now and walk down to this front altar. Come and stand at the foot of the cross. As you step out, heaven is rejoicing over you. Come right now, just as you are, and let Jesus connect your heart to the Father’s love today.
Deliverance Session
For everyone standing at the altar and everyone across this sanctuary, lift up both of your hands toward heaven right now. On this third day of fasting, the power of the Holy Spirit is here to break every yoke of darkness! Sometimes, when God wants to bless you from an open heaven, dark spiritual powers try to block your blessings, steal your peace, and keep you bound in generational curses, sickness, and fear. Today, by the blood of Jesus—the stairway of heaven—every wall of darkness is coming down! Speak this out loud with fire in your spirit, or receive it deep in your heart as I take authority in the name of Jesus:
Every spirit of fear, depression, and heaviness that has been sitting on your mind like a heavy stone—loose your hold and go now in the name of Jesus!
Every generational curse of poverty, failure at the edge of breakthrough, and family breakdown that chased you the way Esau chased Jacob—be broken right now by the blood of Jesus!
Every sickness hiding in your blood, your bones, or your organs—hear the Word of the Lord from the throne of heaven: come out and leave these bodies in Jesus’ mighty name!
Every spiritual brass ceiling that the enemy put over your business, your marriage, your documents, and your children to stop your prayers from being answered—shatter into pieces right now by the fire of the Holy Spirit!
The angels of the Lord are descending the stairway right now with flaming swords of deliverance. Breathe in the Holy Spirit! Feel that heavy weight lifting off your shoulders! The chains are broken, the curse is reversed, and your life is set free under God’s open heaven in Jesus’ name!
Conclusion
Look at what the Lord has done among us over these three wonderful days! Let us look back and thank God for this journey. On Day 1 of our fast, we came here feeling the heavy weight of life, and God taught us how to have Faith That Grows Under Pressure. He showed us that pressure does not destroy a child of God; it makes us stronger. On Day 2, yesterday, when our bodies were hungry and the enemy tried to make us doubt, the Word of the Lord came to us saying, Stand Firm and Do Not Be Shaken. We planted our feet on the rock of God’s Word and refused to move. And today, on Day 3, Saturday, October 17, 2026, our eyes have been opened to see Jacob’s Ladder: Connecting Earth to Heaven’s Throne.
You came into this three-day fast carrying hard stones of worry, sickness, and lack. You are leaving this fast today standing at the Gate of Heaven! Never forget what you saw in the Spirit today. Whenever you go home today and break your fast with a warm meal, remember that the stairway does not disappear just because church is over. Because Jesus lives inside of you, the open heaven goes wherever you go!
When you walk into your house today, the open heaven walks in with you. When you go to work on Monday morning, the angels of God are ascending and descending right over your desk. And hold tightly to Genesis 28:15 all week long: God is with you, He will keep you wherever you go, and He will never leave you until He has done every single thing He promised you. Go home with joy on your face, peace in your heart, and a song of praise on your lips, because surely the Lord is in this place, and your life will never be the same again!
Closing Prayer
Heavenly Father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, we bow before Your glorious throne today with hearts full of thanksgiving. Thank You for giving us the grace and strength to complete these three days of October fasting and prayer. Lord, You have seen every hungry stomach, You have heard every late-night cry, and You have bottled up every tear shed in this place. Today, we thank You that the heaven is wide open over every person under the sound of my voice. Thank You for Jesus, our living stairway, who connects our brokenness to Your limitless grace. Father, as Your children go home to break their fast today, bless the food and water they take; let it bring strength and divine health to their bodies. We seal every deliverance, every healing, and every answered prayer with the precious blood of Jesus. As they lay their heads down to sleep tonight, give them sweet, peaceful rest like they have not had in years. Stand above their homes, keep them safe wherever they go, and fulfill every good promise You have spoken over their lives. In the mighty, matchless name of Jesus Christ we pray, Amen and Amen!
Announcement: Next Week’s Continuation & Transition
Family, please listen closely before you leave! Even though our three days of fasting end today, remember that the Month of God’s Open Heaven is still continuing in full power! Do not miss next week’s service for anything, because we are moving into the next glorious chapter of what happens after heaven opens. Today, Jacob saw the open heaven and heard God’s promise; next week, we will see how Jacob comes back to Bethel with overflowing blessings—changing from a poor man running away with just a wooden staff into a blessed man returning with two huge camps of family and wealth! Tommrow , we are shifting from seeing the open heaven to walking in the harvest and transformation of the open heaven. Bring your family, invite a hurting friend who needs a touch from God, and come expecting to share your testimonies of what God has done since this fast! God bless you abundantly.
