Father, I commit my ALL into Your hands, Amen.

Dear God, thank You for this new day and thank You for the honest warning in Your Word to examine my own heart, not just my words. Your Word in Matthew 7:23 says, “And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’” God, help me be real about any sin that I’ve been struggling with and I’ve been making excuses about. Serving You, sharing about You, or even praying to You will never replace actually knowing You and living a life that’s surrendered to You. Show me today any part of my life where I’ve grown comfortable in my sin and give me the strength to cut it off. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Key Themes & Meaning

  • The Prayer of Transparency: David invites God to thoroughly examine the hidden motives, thoughts, and attitudes within his heart rather than relying on a self-assessed sense of righteousness.
  • Addressing Anxious Thoughts: The verse acknowledges that God cares about and understands internal fears, stresses, and mental burdens.
  • Correction and Confession: Asking God to “see if there is any offensive way” is an open request for moral and spiritual realignment, letting go of hidden sin.
  • Guidance into Eternity: The prayer ends with a request to be led along “the way everlasting”—the path aligned with God’s enduring will and character.

Search me, O God, and know my heart; try me, and know my anxieties; and see if there is any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.

Psalm 139:23-24
