Dear God, thank You for this new day. Your word in Psalm 139:23-24 says, “Search me, O God, and know my heart; try me, and know my anxious thoughts; and see if there is any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.” God, I don’t want to keep certain thoughts or struggles hidden from You today. I want to be honest instead of trying to look perfect. Show me where my motives are off, correct anything that needs correcting, and lead me back to You. I know when You search me, it’s not to condemn me, it’s to guide me closer to Your will. Fix what’s broken in me and help me walk in Your everlasting way today. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me. -Psalm 51:10

Meaning and Context
- Who wrote it: King David wrote this psalm after the prophet Nathan confronted him about his grave mistakes with Bathsheba.
- The word “Create”: David uses the Hebrew word bara, which means to create something out of nothing. He knows he cannot fix his own broken soul and needs God to do a brand-new work.
- The Goal: The prayer seeks moral purity in the “heart” (the inner person) and steadfast loyalty in the “spirit” (the will and attitude).
